Student Awards
Several students are to be awarded and each session costs $5,000. The OGS has a value of $5,000 per academic session and is valid for a minimum of one year (two consecutive or three terms).
Therefore, participants might get $10,000 for two straight sessions or $15,000 for three straight sessions. The cost of the overall prize that the students receive is, in all cases, partially covered by the graduate unit that is giving the honor.
Scholarship Eligibility
No Special Restriction is applicable however students must;
The applicant must be enrolled full-time in or be interested in enrolling in an approved program in 2024–2025.
A full-time program of study lasting two or three sessions at the University of Toronto that results in a graduate degree is considered eligible.
According to their school, a full-time student is one who enrolls in at least 60% of all courses (or 40% for those with persistent disabilities).
The greatest amount of government-funded support or OGS support that is available for an applicant’s current level of study over their lifetime must not have been exceeded (see greatest Support below); additionally
A minimum of an A- (or equivalent) must be obtained by applicants in each of the last two years of full-time equivalent study; alternatively, if the applicant has already completed two years of graduate studies, the applicant need only show an overall average of at least A- (or equivalent) on all graduate courses completed.
Participants of an OGS award must: Register and stay enrolled full-time at U of T in an eligible program at the graduate unit from which the OGS was awarded
If they withdraw, transfer to part-time status, finish their degree requirements before the award expires, or do not finish the full session, they will have to reimburse the funds they were given for the incomplete program.
must maintain a current Ontario Student Assistance Program status (OSAP). Those who have not made timely repayment of a loan overpayment or who have defaulted on a student loan from Ontario or Canada are not eligible to receive the reward.
An OSAP restriction does not prevent someone from applying for the OGS. However, in order to accept and retain the award, they must get the restriction lifted within 30 days of notification
to accept research assistantships, part-time teaching jobs, and other paid work that fits the graduate unit policies and does not interfere with their status as a full-time graduate student.
