Google has opened an online Cybersecurity Certificate Scholarship in Cybersecurity on Coursera for Sub-Saharan Africa to close the region’s cybersecurity skills shortage.
The course, which includes 2,000 scholarships, will help to enhance digital transformation and economic growth by providing students with in-demand computer skills.
Google is committed to strengthening cybersecurity in Africa by sharing our knowledge and increasing access to cybersecurity opportunities for more individuals.
That is why, today in Sub-Saharan Africa, we introduce a new Google Career Certificate on Coursera that will equip students for new professions in the high-growth industry of cybersecurity. This new qualification allows Africans to obtain experience in this highly sought-after technology industry.
The cybersecurity certificate will teach students how to identify regular risks, threats, and vulnerabilities, as well as ways to mitigate them. They will also receive hands-on expertise with Python, Linux, SQL, and SIEM technologies.
This credential is in addition to our existing ones in Data Analytics, Digital Marketing & E-commerce, IT Support, Project Management, and User Experience Design.
Also, they just introduced two advanced credentials in Advanced Data Analytics and Business Intelligence, which complement Google’s entry-level Data Analytics Certificate.
These low-cost programs assist those who want to learn online at their speed or who want to change occupations but do not have the time or resources to pursue traditional education.
They can be finished in under six months and do not require any prior experience or a degree. The credentials are product-agnostic and are intended to assist people prepare for positions in any firm or industry.
Over 20,000 people have graduated from the Google Professional Certificates program in Sub-Saharan Africa, with more than 80% reporting a positive professional impact, such as a new job, improved pay, or promotion, within six months of graduation.1
